Strong Neighboorhoods.
The Local Collective strengthens neighborhood business communities
through advocacy, collaboration, education, and community-based projects that support commercial stability, counter displacement, and preserve neighborhood identity.
Our First Project
The Los Feliz Mural Festival
The Los Feliz Mural Festival is a neighborhood-wide public art initiative transforming Los Feliz into a curated, walkable outdoor gallery through a series of large-scale murals created by internationally recognized and emerging artists.
Over the course of a week, artists will paint murals across the neighborhood, inviting the public to experience the creative process in real time as walls are transformed into lasting works of public art. Created in partnership with local businesses, property owners, and community organizations, the festival celebrates neighborhood identity, activates underutilized spaces, and brings new energy to the commercial corridor.
The mural festival culminates with the Los Feliz Art & Music Block Party on August 15, 2026, bringing the community together to celebrate the artists, businesses, and partners who helped bring the project to life.
Why It Matters
Neighborhood business districts are more than places to shop and eat.
They create gathering places, preserve local character, and help shape the identity of our communities.
When independent businesses disappear, neighborhoods lose more than storefronts.
They lose the relationships, traditions, and sense of place that make a community feel like home.
As economic pressures and displacement threaten commercial corridors throughout Los Angeles,
The Local Collective works to help neighborhood business communities
organize, collaborate, and invest in their future.
Every donation helps us organize communities, support local businesses,
and create projects that strengthen the neighborhoods we call home.
